Soaking in the sun and wiggling your toes in the sand are an absolute MUST during your visit to Charleston. And what better place to do so then at the Folly Beach County Park, one of three beach parks operated by Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission. Just a short drive from Historic Downtown Charleston, beachgoers will find this beautiful park situated on the west end of Folly Island, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River. Skimmer Flats, a major Eastern Brown Pelican rookery, is visible at the west end of the park.
Lifeguards are on duty seasonally along a beautiful beachfront designated swimming area. Dogs are NOT permitted on the beach from 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. from May 1 through September 30. At all other times the dog must be on a leash.
Outdoor showers (no soap or shampoo, please) and portable restrooms (fully accessible) are available year-round. Seasonal amenities include beach chair and umbrella rentals, retail area, and a snack bar. Visit CharlestonCountyParks.com for park amenities, fees, and operating schedules.
